CD Projekt Red claims that The Witcher 3’s expansions are “better than the base game”

When it comes to generosity, you wouldn’t put anything past CD Projekt RED these days. Not only did the Polish studio release DLC aplenty for The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt for my favourite price – free – but it is also aiming to win gamers over with the expansions that they will have to invest money into. How? By making them better than the original game itself, of course!

When he recently spoke to OXM, CD Projekt Red’s producer, Stan Just, had this to say on the matter…

“In terms of game expansions, these are like those old school add-on discs older players might remember. What’s more, it’s of even better quality than the base game quests!”

Stan Just pointed out that the team had more time to focus on the quality of the expansions than it did for the main game.

“Many departments’ tools were undergoing some serious changes during the production of the main game. Plus, for cinematics, we were able to improve quality [for the expansions] by adding much more movement even on the smallest scenes you’ll see. We are constantly raising the bar for ourselves.”

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt’s first main expansion – Hearts of Stone – is out now, whilst the second main expansion titled Blood and Wine will release early on in 2016.
